The Echo Lake Aquarium and Science Center at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain is an interesting attraction and gets many visitors daily. Many exhibits, hands-on activities, demonstrations and presentations are featured throughout the day. There are many fish to explore, facts and information about Lake Champlain to seek, Champ, the seamonster - the legend of Lake Champlain and science experiments too. I thought it was pretty interesting to walk through the museum and learn about the amazing creatures, explore the wide range of information, take a breath in of the wonderful panoramic view of Lake Champlain from the terrace (made possible by a family donor), there are many interactive activities and plenty to do. One of the things was the "Be a Watershed Weather Reporter" made possible and enforced by NewsChannel 5 WPTZ where you can star in your own and record it from the high-tech cool TV studio weather video for 60 seconds, edit your mini report and watch it at home via your own DVD available for $8.99 purchase from the gift shop. There are over 60 species of fish, amphibians, reptiles and major traveling exhibitions and the multimedia Awesome Forces theater to discover at the center and there are over 100 interactive experiences to dive into like the Beluga Whale Dig. You can find daily ECHO Encounters including Live Animal feedings & demos and many more family friendly activities.
The ECHO Center is in the convenient area on the waterfront right near The Skinny Pancake and Spirit of Ethan Allen III.
