Patrick Thompson, the developer of an app called QuickReader through the power of Twitter. He found me and I was pleased to hear from him. I tested out the app and liked it.
QuickReader is a speed reading app that features many e-books that is available for download through the in-app bookstore. You can also do normal reading for those who do not like to read fast. It can even test how fast you read.
From browsing the selection of books, I couldn’t find many that I was familiar with, but there is a Young Readers version of the app. Among many popular titles are Pride and Prejudice and Phantom of the Opera. The app can help you read faster with more speed but while still understanding the context. Each word is highlighted for you and helps you keep track of your reading and what word you are on. It really helped my reading level improve and help me reader faster. Another thing I liked is that there is no scrolling or page turning, the app does it for you as you read at your chosen pace. You can also share with Twitter or Facebook. It will also tell you how long until the end of the chapter based on your current speed. Your pace is always adjustable using the menu. QuickReader has three English editions available from Apple’s App Store for use on iPhones, iPod Touch and even iPads. If you want to just try it out, there is a free LITE version. You can also get the regular app or Young Readers app for just $5.99.
Bottom line: QuickReader is a great e-reader app for those looking for a stress-free, easy reading experience that will help you read faster. I hope that as time progresses with the app, more titles will be added of all genres and for all ages.
